I am in consultant practice in the NHS as well as in the private sector with a wide-ranging clinical practice in cardiothoracic surgery including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and video-assisted thoracoscopic lung surgery (VATS). I have daily involvement in all aspects of risk assessment and risk management in cardiothoracic surgery including trauma.
I undertook an honours degree in law during my surgical training and I have prepared reports for coroner’s inquests, claimants (80%), defendants (15%) and as a single joint expert (5%).
I started medicolegal work in 2007 and undertake approximately 80 – 100 medico-legal cases per year.
My CV is attached. I have published extensively in the peer-reviewed medical literature and I have also presented at numerous meetings and to learned societies as an invited speaker. A list of publications and presentations can be provided on request.
